A tragic accident occurred in Bloomington on Monday, July 24, when a 25-year-old man was struck by a semi-truck, leaving him with life-threatening injuries.

According to the Minnesota State Patrol’s report, the incident took place on Interstate 35W, just south of 106th Street. The semi-truck driver was heading northbound on the highway when the collision with the pedestrian occurred.

The victim, identified as a 25-year-old resident from Cottage Grove, was rushed to Hennepin County Medical Center for immediate medical attention. Reports indicated that he sustained severe injuries as a result of the accident.

Thankfully, the driver of the semi-truck, a 22-year-old man from Montana, and his 66-year-old passenger emerged from the crash unharmed.

This unfortunate event adds to the alarming pedestrian fatality rate in Minnesota. According to the Minnesota Office of Traffic Safety, from January to June of this year, there have already been 17 reported pedestrian fatalities across the state.
